Petalmetal is metalsmith and enamelist Kate Cathey's collection of work including limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces. I fabricate all my work by hand in my studio in Wilmington, North Carolina.
I love what I do. I am most inspired by color and industry, and my work reflects a favorite theme of the juxtaposition of the raw with the refined. Raindrops clinging to bare branches, chemical holding tanks at the state port, graffiti on the side of a building...anything has the potential to be re-imagined and rebuilt to wear.
